Mancherial: Preventive Detention (PD) Act was invoked against three notorious traders of spurious cotton seeds including a government teacher. The three were arrested for allegedly selling spurious cotton seeds. An order to this effect was issued by Ramagundam Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana on Friday.
According to a press statement, the accused traders were Pattireddy Prabhakar Reddy, a businessman of Incline Basti in Bellampalli, Pusa Subba Rao, a native of Giddalur mandal in Prakasham district and a government teacher from Venkatapur village Bheemini mandal and Choudari Dinesh, a fertilizer shop owner belonging to Bheemini mandal centre.
Prabhakar, Subba Rao and Suresh formed a gang and were committing the offence to make fast bucks for quite a long time. They indulged in three offences reported under limits of Ramagundam commissionerate in 2021. They were procuring the seeds from one Gollapudi Roshaiah from Kurnool of Andhra Pradesh.
Satyanarayana warned that stringent action would be taken against those who trade spurious cotton seeds and cause losses to farmers. He stated that a special focus was laid on the traders and a list of habitual offenders was prepared. He added that the Preventive Detention Act would be invoked against some more traders soon.
The IPS officer complimented Bellampalli ACP Rahemand, Bellampalli Inspector Jagadish, II town Inspector Bhaskar, Talla Gurijala Sub-Inspector Sammaiah and Nennal SI Ramakanth for striving hard to eradicate the menace and to invoke the act against the traders.
