Khammam: Police seized PDS rice worth Rs 10 lakh as also two lorries at Tallada in the district on Sunday.
Wyra ACP, Satyanarayana informed the media that based on a tip off about illegal transportation of the rice, Tallada Inspector of Police Vasanth Kumar, Sub-inspector of Police, Tirupathi Reddy and others conducted vehicle inspections on the main road at Reddygudem and found two lorries carrying a combined load of 410 quintals PDS rice.
The lorry drivers, Thota Ravi Kumar and Bitra Pulla Rao of Jaggaiahgpet in AP were taken into custody. During questioning, they revealed that the rice was being transported to Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh, the ACP said.
