Peddapalli: TGSRTC drivers operating Intelligent Ticket Issue Machine (i-TIMs) service buses staged a protest at the Godavarikhani depot on Monday, demanding that the i-TIMs system be scrapped.
Drivers of long-distance services such as Hyderabad, Miyapur and other routes held a demonstration in front of the depot, raising slogans against the management. They alleged that TGSRTC was placing an additional burden on long-distance drivers by asking them to issue tickets using i-TIMs devices, a task earlier handled by conductors.
They said the workload had led to health issues since drivers were being forced to perform duties equivalent to two days of work in a single day. With conductors withdrawn from long-distance services, drivers claimed they were under tremendous pressure to drive and issue tickets simultaneously. They demanded that conductors be allocated by discontinuing the i-TIMs system.
The drivers also complained of duty allocation without prior intimation, which they said was causing further inconvenience.
