Karimnagar: Huzurabad MLA Padi Koushik Reddy said on Tuesday that patients were facing inconvenience due to lack of doctors and facilities in government hospitals.

Besides Huzurabad and Jammikunta hospitals, the situation also persists in Gandhi, NIMS and all other government hospitals in the State, he said after visiting the Huzurabad area hospital where deliveries were delayed due to various reasons on Monday.

Interacting with doctors, MLA enquired about the reasons for the delay of deliveries. He later told reporters that the deliveries were delayed due to miscommunication and doctors were instructed not to repeat such incidents in the future.

Commenting on the condition of government hospitals across the State, he said people were facing severe hardships due to lack of doctors and facilities. Government hospitals were meant for the poor, he emphasised, asking what was the need to run hospitals if the poor were not provided proper treatment.

In order to study the situation in government hospitals, the BRS had formed a committee led by former Deputy Chief Minister Thatikonda Rajaiah.

However, the committee members were obstructed by the government when they tried to inspect hospitals, he said, also asking Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Health Minister Damodaram Rajanarsimha to continue the KCR kit scheme and provide financial assistance to pregnant women.

If the government was not interested in continuing with the name KCR kit, it could rename the scheme as Indiramma or Rajiv Gandhi or Revanth Reddy but the scheme should be continued, he asserted.
