Hyderabad: The Pet-Basheerabad police investigating the POCSO case booked against Bandi Sai Bageerath are working to strengthen the case by gathering digital evidence, including Instagram, WhatsApp and Snapchat chats between the suspect and the victim.
The investigating officials also focused on allegations of destruction of evidence, including formatting mobile phones and deleting social media accounts after the case was booked against Bageerath.
Meanwhile, Bageerath’s police custody ended on Friday following three days of detailed questioning. He was produced before a court and later shifted to the Central Prison in Cherlapally.
Under the supervision of Kukatpally DCP Ritiraj, Pet-Basheerabad police interrogated the suspect over allegations that a minor girl was sexually assaulted at a farmhouse in Moinabad on December 31 last year.
As part of the investigation, police on the first day of custody on Wednesday took Bageerath to the farmhouse for a scene reconstruction exercise and questioned him about the events of that night, the people present there and the alleged role of his friends.
Police reportedly questioned him about attempts to threaten the victim’s family, influence witnesses and prevent the complaint from reaching the police.
They are also probing who helped the accused remain out of reach and whether any efforts were made to pressure local police stations in connection with the counter-complaints filed in Karimnagar and Nirmal.
Sources said he remained largely silent during questioning on several key issues.
