Hyderabad: Less than 24 hours after the Telangana High Court issued interim orders suspending the phone tapping case investigation against former Minister T Harish Rao, an affidavit was filed in the Nampally court on Thursday, alleging police harassment and coercion. T Vamsi Krishna, a former Aarogyasri employee and one of the accused, filed the petition, claiming that police were pressuring him to falsely implicate Harish Rao and others in the case.

Advocate J Laxman submitted Vamsi Krishna’s handwritten affidavit in the 14th Additional Judicial Magistrate Court. This comes a day after the Nampally court granted bail to Vamsi Krishna and two others arrested in the case.

In his affidavit, Vamsi Krishna accused ACP S Mohan Kumar and DCP SM Vijay Kumar of torturing him during his arrest. He alleged that the officers used abusive language and threatened to implicate him in other false cases, if he did not name Harish Rao and M Venugopal in the case. He stated that the police denied him food and arrested him despite informing about his poor health condition.

Addressing the media, advocate Laxman stated that the ACP and DCP of Punjagutta deliberately pressured Vamsi Krishna to falsely confirm Harish Rao’s involvement, despite knowing otherwise. He also alleged that Vamsi’s family members were harassed at their residence where notices were intentionally posted outside their rented house to intimidate them. He said legal action will be pursued against the police officers involved in this alleged misconduct.
