Hyderabad: Plucking plants that are planted as part of the Telangana Ku Haritha Haram programme might land you in trouble.
A man named Chinna Mallaiah from Honnajipet village in Sirkonda Mandal of Nizamabad district was fined Rs 5,000 by village sarpanch Bhagwant Reddy and secretary Raghuram Mallya for plucking plants planted as part of the flagship tree-planting programme. The sarpanch further warned of strict action if anyone seemed involved in destroying the plants.
Crores of plants are being planted in Telangana to achieve the target set by the State government to plant 19.91 crore saplings across the State in the year 2021-2022. Every town, city and rural area has taken up the initiative.
Ever since the beginning of the initiative, the government has been putting in place measures to ensure that the plants are undisturbed. It has handed over the responsibility of their care to the authorities concerned in the particular village or area.
