PNB Hyderabad holds workshop on cyber awareness and social engineering

Punjab National Bank’s Hyderabad Zonal Office organised a workshop on cyber awareness and social engineering. More than 100 staff members attended the session, which highlighted threats including deepfakes, fraudulent calls, phishing links, KYC scams, OTP requests and impersonation

Hyderabad: Punjab National Bank, Zonal Office, Hyderabad, under the chairpersonship of Vandana Pandey, General Manager & Zonal Manager (Telangana & Andhra Pradesh), organised a Zonal-Level Official Language Workshop on ‘Cyber Awareness and Social Engineering: The Way Forward’. The workshop was attended by more than 100 staff members, including DZM, DGM, AGMs and Circle Heads from the Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam offices.

Vandana Pandey said the primary objective of the workshop was to create awareness among staff members about cybercrime and social engineering. Cybercriminals do not merely exploit technical vulnerabilities; they also target human behaviour and psychological weaknesses, which is what is understood as social engineering.

Deepfakes, fraudulent phone calls, emails, messages and links, approaches in the name of KYC updates, requests for OTPs or passwords, impersonation of officials to create pressure, and attempts to induce fear or greed are some examples of social engineering.
