Hyderabad: BRS MLC Pochampally Srinivas Reddy has dismissed allegations linking him to anti-social activities reported on his land in Tolkatta village, Moinabad mandal. He assured full cooperation with the police and stated that he would respond to the notice issued to him. He also warned of legal action against those spreading falsehoods on social media.
On February 11, the police busted an illegal cockfight event after a raid on the MLC’s farmhouse in Moinabad and arrested 64 individuals allegedly partaking in the cockfight. They confiscated cockfight knives, betting paraphernalia, 55 vehicles and Rs 30.59 lakh in cash. A notice was served to Srinivas Reddy in this regard.
Clarifying his position, the MLC stated that he had purchased 10 acres 1 gunta in 2018 and had entrusted all land-related matters to his nephew, Gyandev Reddy. In a release on Thursday, Srinivas Reddy said that there is no farmhouse or guest house on the said property, only agricultural groves and two rooms for workers’ quarters and equipment storage. He said to have learnt about the alleged illegal activities at his property through the media.
Upon enquiry, his nephew informed him that the land was leased to Varra Ramesh Kumar Reddy who in turn sub-leased it to M Venkatapathi Raju, without his knowledge or involvement.
The MLC categorically denied any connection to illegal activities and confirmed filing a police complaint against those responsible. Stating that he was in Warangal for the Yellamma festival on the day of the incident, he said certain individuals were spreading misinformation for political motives.
