Khammam: The family members of a man accused in a POCSO case in Khammam allegedly threatened the victim against testifying against him in court and were booked by the Hyderabad police.

It may be recalled that the accused, Mohammed Ghouse of Khammam, was alleged to have attempted to sexually assault a 12-year-old girl and pushed her from the fourth floor of a building in an attempt to kill her on June 6. He was booked by the Two-Town police.

The girl, who sustained serious injuries and multiple fractures, was being treated at NIMS in Hyderabad. Though she was scheduled to testify in court on September 16, she could not appear due to ill health. The next hearing was scheduled for October 5.

According to the girl’s family members, two daughters and a daughter-in-law of the accused visited the girl at NIMS on the evening of September 16. They initially spoke to the family in a supportive manner but later allegedly threatened the girl against testifying against the accused.

The girl’s father called the Two-Town police in Khammam and informed them about the incident. Later, he lodged a complaint with the Panjagutta police in Hyderabad, following which a case was registered against the trio under relevant sections.
