POCSO case trial completed in five months, accused sentenced to 20 years in Siddipet
The convict Ajay, a native of Uttar Pradesh, had worked as a watchman in an under-construction apartment at Ponnala in Siddipet town. The accused raped a three-year-old girl, the granddaughter of another worker, on August 19, 2024
Siddipet: The trial of a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) case was completed in a record five months in the first additional district and sessions court in Siddipet. District Principal Judge Sai Ramadevi pronounced her verdict and sentenced the accused for 20 years of rigorous punishment.
The convict Ajay, a native of Uttar Pradesh, had worked as a watchman in an under-construction apartment at Ponnala in Siddipet town. The accused raped a three-year-old girl, the granddaughter of another worker, on August 19, 2024.
The police registered rape and POCSO cases against Ajay. After hearing arguments from both sides, the judge also imposed a fine of Rs.50,000 on him.
Commissioner of Police Dr B Anuradha appreciated the investigating officers for enabling a quick trial and securing conviction in the case.
