Karimnagar: Police have taken BJP leaders into preventive custody in different places across the erstwhile Karimnagar district on Tuesday morning.
BJP state party gave a call to lay siege Assembly in protest against the state government’s decision to amend Municipal act alleging that it was meant onlyk to favor MIM in the next coming GHMC polls.
As part of the state party’s call, leaders from erstwhile Karimnagar have prepared to attend agitation. However, police took them into preventive custody.
BJP district president, Gangadi Krishna Reddy and his followers were taken into custody by Huzurabad police. Party leaders were also arrested in Korutla, Medipalli and other areas.
On the other hand, BJP leaders led by district general secretary Thallapalli Srinivas Goud burnt the effigy of the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for his decision to amend municipal act to favor MIM in GHMC polls.
Police arrested agitating BJP leaders and shifted them to police station. Mahila Morcha district president and corporator Choppari Jayasree and others participated in the agitation.
