Warangal Urban: In a joint operation, the Task Force police and Intezarganj police raided a house in the city on Wednesday and arrested a couple for printing and circulating fake currency notes. They also seized fake currency with face value of Rs 10,09,960, a colour printer, band papers and a cutter used in printing the fake notes. The arrested were identified as Vangari Ramesh (55) and his wife Saraswathi (45) of Tilak Road in Kashibugga locality in the city.
According to Warangal CP Tarun Joshi, the couple, who suffered losses in business, wanted to make some quick money by printing fake currency notes. While Ramesh was running a chicken centre, his wife used to run a fancy items store.
“They purchased a colour printer with scanner, bond papers used to print currency notes and were printing currency notes for the last three months in 2,000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20 and 10 denominations,” he said, adding that they circulated the fake currency in shops where customer rush was high to avoid suspicion. Police launched a probe after receiving complaints about circulation of fake currency from various quarters.
“On Wednesday, the police raided a house under Intezarganj PS limits and arrested the couple,” the CP said, and appreciated Task Force ACP Prathap Kumar, Inspectors Ch Srinivas Ji, Madhu, Inthezarganj PS Inspector Venkateshwarlu and others for nabbing the accused.
