Kothagudem: Paloncha rural police have arrested a bike lifter and recovered six motorbikes.
The accused, Sonthapuri Ramesh of Subbampet village of Cherla mandal in the district, was caught during vehicle checks at Somulugudam crossroads when he tried to run away on seeing the police, Paloncha DSP Sathish Kumar told the media on Saturday.
During questioning, he confessed to police that he had stolen the bike he was riding at Kesavapuram a few days ago as he wanted to make easy money and was addicted to liquor consumption, gambling and others. The accused further confessed that he had stolen 18 motorbikes in the last six months in Kothagudem, Paloncha, Bhadrachalam, Manuguru and Yellandu areas of the district, the DSP said.
