Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner, CV Anand on Monday clarified the notification issued imposing prohibitory orders in the city ‘has nothing to do with Diwali festival celebrations’.

Following statements by some on social media platforms over clamping prohibitory orders on Sunday, CV Anand said that “there are some other groups of people who are planning various types of agitations, surprise raids on Secretariat, CMs residence, DGP office, Raj Bhavan etc. We have intelligence inputs about it and this notification is to give legal backing to any police action in arresting such elements.”

The Hyderabad CP stated that it is routinely done by police all over the country depending upon the need. “This is not a curfew as some are falsely claiming. So relax,” he added.

Hyderabad Police have imposed prohibitory orders, banning the assembly of five or more persons, processions, and rallies for one month.

The order came into force at 6 p.m. on October 27 and will remain in force till 6 p.m. on November 28.
