Police constable suspended for assaulting wife in Mancherial
A Mancherial police constable was suspended after a viral video showed him allegedly abusing and assaulting his wife while drunk. A case was registered under the SC, ST Act following her complaint, and investigations are underway

Mancherial: A police constable was suspended for allegedly abusing his wife by taking her caste name and assaulting her while in an inebriated condition at Reddy Colony here on Sunday night. Orders to this effect were issued by Ramagundam Commissioner of Police Amber Kishore Jha on Monday night.
As per the order, D Ravi Prasad, a constable attached to the Mancherial town police station, was placed under suspension after a case was registered against him under the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act following a complaint lodged by his wife, Shirisha. Investigations are on. A video of the incident went viral on social media platforms, causing embarrassment to the police department.
In the video clip, widely shared on WhatsApp, Prasad is seen in an inebriated condition, wearing only undergarments. He is seen dragging Shirisha onto the street from their residence and assaulting her, while she is seen crying helplessly while holding a toddler. Differences had reportedly cropped up between the couple a few years ago. Shirisha is a superintendent with the Telangana State Special Police 13th Battalion, Gudipet.
Hailing from a Scheduled Caste, Shirisha married Ravi Prasad, who belongs to a different community, after they fell in love six years ago.
