Kothagudem: A mega free eye check camp was organised for tribals by Dummugudem police on Monday.
As many as 2,000 tribals underwent tests at the camp held at ITDA Ashram School at Dummugudem. Bhadrachalam ASP, Dr. Vineeth G inaugurated the medical camp which was coordinated and organised by the local CI, Venkateshwarlu, SI Ravi Kumar and staff.
People of various tribal villages in the mandal and tribals from Chhattisgarh State border villages were tested by a team of expert doctors. The ASP said organising the mega eye medical camp was part of community policing to reach out to the people of the area.
He said the police were working with the aim of providing all kinds of facilities to the tribals who were suffering from various problems. He thanked the police department and the team of doctors who came to conduct eye examinations for the tribals.
Of those who attended the eye camp, glasses were referred for 400 – 500 persons and 200 persons recommended for advanced operation, the ASP informed.
Superintendent of Police, Sunil Dutt lauded CI Venkateshwarlu, SI Ravi and staff, doctors Ramakanth, S Tejaswini, T Karthik, S Arvind, Md Ishaq, Chaitanya and Dr Manideep Parnashala for their efforts for the success of the camp.
The police department was always at the forefront in providing all kinds of facilities and amenities to people in Maoist-affected areas, the SP added.
