Hyderabad: The Cyberabad SOT police caught five persons on charges of drug possession and consumption at Madhapur on Thursday.
The group including a woman was subjected to advanced drug testing and they tested positive. The bust utilised cutting-edge equipment, including advanced drug detection kits, rapid-result urine and saliva testing kits.
Officials said the consumers were being questioned to ascertain his drug consumption history, source of the drug and if there are any other drug consumers involved.
These tools enabled on-the-spot testing with unparalleled accuracy. The advanced technology ensured immediate results. Even high-profile individuals were not exempt from the operation.
Meanwhile, the Cyberabad Police directed all pubs and bars across the State to display prominently that their establishment is a drug-free space and to strictly follow a zero-tolerance policy for underage drinking. Any violation of these norms would attract severe legal consequences.
Authorities noted that the drug tests can detect use of narcotics upto a month for substances like marijuana in regular users and upto 40 days for drugs like Cocaine in regular users.
The detection periods vary based on the drug type, usage frequency, and individual factors like metabolism and body fat.
