Sangareddy: The Congress government’s decision to merge polytechnic education with the Young India Skill University (YISU) under the Skill, Human Capital and Knowledge Training Initiatives (Shakti), formerly known as Labour department, drew strong opposition from students of polytechnic colleges across the erstwhile Medak district on Tuesday.
Students of a polytechnic college staged a massive protest in Narsapur town, opposing the government’s move. Similarly, students of the government polytechnic college located at Honnapur near Sangareddy also staged a protest. Demanding that the government withdraw the proposal, the students said that they would lose several opportunities with the merger. The staff of the polytechnic colleges were also opposing the government’s decision.
