Hyderabad: On the occasion of Vasant Panchami, the Hyderabad General Post Office (GPO) distributed books on philately and moral stories (in Hindi and English) to the children of Class-IV of Government Girls Primary School, Mahabubia, Nampally on Friday.
The Chief Postmaster, Hyderabad GPO, Y Prasad said the aim of the Gyan Post service is to promote reading habits among the children. As part of this initiative, the books and postcards were distributed to the students at the Philatelic Bureau of Hyderabad, GPO.
The children were educated on the importance of the reading of moral books, and introduced to philately, the hobby of collecting stamps. They were also taught how to write a letter, affix postage stamps and post letters in a letter box, he said.
The Chief Postmaster urged citizens to make use of the Gyan Post service to support educational initiatives.
