Prakash Raj bats for the prosperity of Telugu actors
Later, the press meet heated up with the issue of non-local being raised. Replying to some media reports, Prakash Raj expressed dissatisfaction over the way he is being tagged as non-local.
Hyderabad: Announcing 27 names of his panel members, actor Prakash Raj on Friday said he would strive for the betterment and prosperity of all Telugu actors. The actor announced his candidature for the president’s post of the upcoming MAA (Movie Artistes Association) 2021 election.
Later, the press meet heated up with the issue of non-local being raised. Replying to some media reports, Prakash Raj expressed dissatisfaction over the way he is being tagged as non-local. “None had questioned me whether I am local when I had adopted a village in Telangana State. I purchased houses for my assistants in the city; my son has been studying in a school in this city. The address on my Aadhar card says that I am a local person residing in Hyderabad. I received a National Award for my role in the movie ‘Anthapuram’. If there is no question of non-local arising in all these things, why it is being raked up now?”
The actor further added that the decision to contest the MAA elections did not happen overnight. He said he took a year to make up his mind to contest the polls.
Meanwhile, senior actor Nagendra Babu, who accompanied Prakash Raj, said it was pointless to debate and discuss the issue of Prakash being non-local. Any member of the Movie Artistes Association (MAA) can contest the elections here. “Therefore, all of us have come here to extend complete support to Prakash Raj,” he added.
Actor-producer Bandla Ganesh said it was unfortunate to hear people make statements of non-local. “Prakash Raj has been not just an actor, he has been a humanitarian. We all know what he has been doing for people here. He would stand in the forefront within a call away. We’re confident that our panel sweeps the MAA elections this time,” said Bandla Ganesh.
