London: Reigning champions Liverpool suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield, while Chelsea continued their superb record at Turf Moor with a 2-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

Murillo opened the scoring for Forest against the run of play in the 33rd minute. Nicolo Savona doubled the lead immediately after half-time, before Morgan Gibbs-White sealed the result with a third goal to consign Liverpool to defeat.

Chelsea, meanwhile, created several chances before Pedro Neto broke the deadlock with a diving header from Jamie Gittens’ cross in the 36th minute, his third goal in five starts. Neto nearly added another when he struck the woodwork on the hour, while Burnley goalkeeper Martin Dubravka denied substitute Malo Gusto.

Burnley’s Zian Flemming wasted their best chance, and though the hosts applied late pressure, Enzo Fernandez struck from close range in the final minutes to secure Chelsea’s third straight league win without conceding.

The Blues had defending to do early on, with Trevoh Chalobah, Santos and Tosin making key blocks as Burnley threatened through Jaidon Anthony and Loum Tchaouna. Chelsea looked most dangerous in transition, with Liam Delap and Neto combining well before the breakthrough.

In other matches, Crystal Palace defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0, Fulham edged Sunderland 1-0 at home, and Brighton overcame Brentford 2-1.
