Hyderabad: Most aspirants are now spending almost ten hours a day in the City Central Library.
It’s an entirely different world that opens up once you enter the City Central Library premises. The sight is of a calm and settling environment in contrast to the bustling surroundings the facility is located in. And right in the heart of the city at Ashok Nagar, this library is a getaway abode to a number of government job aspirants.
Under the shade of the trees, in armchairs woven with plastic threads and a cardboard reading pad on them, youngsters are found buried deep into their thick books. Some choose to sit in groups and others are a little away from the crowd. The place is swept with silence and a sense of determination.
Akhil from Jangaon who is getting ready for Group 1 exam, prefers silence and peace here for his preparations. “I live with two roommates and it becomes difficult to concentrate at times there,” he says. The quietude at the City Central Library is where he finds the right focus needed for the challenging exam ahead.
Seated opposite to a gigantic banyan tree on a green bench, M Ramesh is engrossed in solving the percentage problems. With Math tables from two to twenty stuck on his reading pad, he hurriedly solves questions from a huge book.
Hailing from Nagarkurnool district, he is one of the thousands of youngsters aspiring to secure a government job. Before moving to Hyderabad to pursue his job aspirations, he worked in his hometown for some time. Says Ramesh, “it is a better option to study hard and get a government job when compared to working there. I have family problems and I hope a government job will solve them all”.
On the other end of the library is where Navaneetha Nevoori sits on her armchair daily, preparing for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). Recruitment for filling up these teacher posts was a part of the announcement made by the Chief Minister. Born and brought up in Yadadri Bonagiri, Navaneetha first moved to the city for further studies. After completing her higher education from St Anns College for Women, since last year she has been preparing to fulfil her dream of becoming a teacher.
Thanking the government she says, “There are many vacancies this time around compared to the last time. I have been preparing for a long time now and I am confident that I will land a job.”
The whole library premises are filled with youngsters throughout the day preparing for job exams. “There is a separate reading room in the library for girls on the ground floor. Students also take chairs and sit in the corridors upstairs. But most of them like to sit outside in the open,” says one of the staff from the library.
With the announcement on notifications, most aspirants have now become more dedicated and spend almost ten hours a day in the library, which opens its gates at 7 am and closes at around 11 pm.
