Mahabubnagar: District Collector S Venkat Rao complimented district officials in ensuring the covid positivity rate drop from 34.2 percent to 3.2 percent in Mahabubnagar and also wanted them to initiate measures for containing the spread of Corona virus in the third wave.

“There are reports of third wave striking and we need to prepare a action plan and take preventive steps to control the spread of Covid” he said to the officials during a video conference here on Sunday.

Children are more likely to be hit due to the Corona third wave and awareness has to be created among people on the guidelines to be followed strictly, he instructed the officials.

This apart emphasis should be on expediting vaccination, especially in the super spreaders. Since the government has identified ten more categories of people for vaccination, arrangements should be made to administer vaccine to them from Monday, the Collector said.

He also reviewed the works under progress at Government General Hospital in the town. About 200 oxygen beds have been arranged in the hospital and the Collector instructed the officials to fix the Oxygen flow metres at the earliest. Directions were also issued to officials to set up 60 ICU beds, besides improving illumination in the hospital corridors and a fresh coat of painting to the entire structure.

In the wake of monsoon and existing covid circumstances, extensive sanitation measures should be taken up from Monday in all panchayats and mandals, he said.
