Hyderabad: While the ongoing issue between Manchu Manoj and his father actor Mohan Babu at Manchu Town, residence at Jalpally was much viewed and read by people, many are wondering the failure of the police to keep private musclemen out of the place.
Since Tuesday morning, the social media platforms are full of footage of safari clad musclemen moving in and outside the ‘Manchu Town’.
The musclemen, who are being referred as bouncers, are mainly deployed for crowd management at events.
The Oxford dictionary defines a bouncer as, “a person employed to stand at the entrance to a club, pub, etc. to stop people who are not wanted from going in, and to throw out people who are causing trouble inside.”
However, of late these men are deployed to guard private properties, encroach upon private and government lands, and physically assault people.
The best example is Manchu Manoj and Mohan Babu family issue where one could notice safari clad men, (safari dress worn by Special Operations Teams in Rachakonda) carrying sticks and chasing away video journalist who entered into the residence of Mohan Babu. All this in presence of the Pahadishareef police, who are quite aware of the developments and since the morning had deployed policemen at the place to prevent any trouble.
“When the police registered two cases and both the petitioners claimed they were attacked and threatened by musclemen, it was there primary task to send away those who are not connected to the family. Allowing private armies to stay at the place itself aggravates the problems,” said a retired a police official.
In such situation the police should take over the responsibility of providing security to the person faces or claims to face risk to his life.
Several police officials on condition of anonymity wanted an end to the practice of bouncers being used or deployed in property issues or financial disputes because it could further aggravate the issue and could lead to physical assaults and group clashes.
