President Murmu calls for spiritual bond with nature to tackle ecological crisis
President Droupadi Murmu underscored the urgent need for a spiritual connection with nature while receiving Vriksha Vedam 2.0 at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Appreciating the Green India Challenge, she noted the plantation of nearly 19.6 crore saplings over eight years and urged citizens to take collective responsibility for environmental protection.

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu emphasised the need for a deeper spiritual connection with nature. She warned that humanity was standing at a critical juncture between opportunity and ecological crisis.
Receiving the book Vriksha Vedam 2.0, authored by Green India Challenge founder and former MP Joginipally Santosh Kumar, at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President invoked the concept of Pancha Bhutas, drawn from the Taittiriya Upanishad. She stressed that human existence is intrinsically linked to these elements and called for spiritual intelligence to preserve ecological balance.
Terming the present as both an Amrit Kaal and an Apad Kaal, she cautioned against unchecked greed and urged collective responsibility towards environmental protection.
Appreciating the Green India Challenge initiative, the President observed that nearly 19.6 crore saplings have been planted over the past eight years. She hoped that the initiative would have a transformative impact nationwide. She called for sustained action, urging citizens to actively participate in conserving nature for future generations.
BRS MPs KR Suresh Reddy, Vaddiraju Ravichandra, B Pardhasaradhi Reddy, Igniting Minds Organisation founder M Karunakar Reddy and Green India Challenge co-founder S Raghavendra, were also present.
