Private employee duped by fraudsters in credit card fraud

As per available information, the victim, who is a private employee, recently received a text message to his mobile phone followed by a link. Believing it to be a reward notification from his RBL Credit Card, he opened the link and filled up all the requisite details

Hyderabad: A 32-year-old man from the city was duped by cyber fraudsters to the tune of Rs 1.7 lakh who trapped him on pretext of rewards from his RBL Credit Card.

As per available information, the victim, who is a private employee, recently received a text message to his mobile phone followed by a link. Believing it to be a reward notification from his RBL Credit Card, he opened the link and filled up all the requisite details.


As soon as he submitted details, multiple fraudulent transactions were made from his credit card to the tune of Rs 1, 77,580 with a few minutes.

After realising that he was duped, the victim approached the Cybercrime police and lodged a complaint. He also promptly alerted the RBL Credit Card authorities, who blocked this card.

Case is under investigation.
