Priyadarshini Institute Students from Khammam visit NIAR on study tour to Hyderabad
Their visit to the NIAR was a study tour as part of ensuring exposure to the real time industry for the students. Such science trips would give students an opportunity to set their sights on research ideas, said the college chairman, Dr. Katepalli Naveen Babu.

Khammam: The ECE department students of Priyadarshini Institute of Science and Technology for Women in Khammam visited National Institute of Amateur Radio (NIAR) in Hyderabad.
Their visit to the NIAR was a study tour as part of ensuring exposure to the real time industry for the students. Such science trips would give students an opportunity to set their sights on research ideas, said the college chairman, Dr. Katepalli Naveen Babu.
The college academic director Atluri Venkataramana explained to the students that the services and communication system of amateur radio was a boon to the country to face the unpredictable challenges that come from nature due to the changing environment.
The NIAR was non government organisation founded by S Suri (VU2MY) at Hyderabad. It was registered as a Public Society on June 21, 1983. NIAR was established to spread the awareness of Amateur Radio (Ham Radio) activity amongst the people in India, he noted.
Sharing their experiences with fellow students, the ECE students, who were accompanied by faculty, Y Jayamma and Y Praveen during their recent visit, informed that they learnt about communicating with very low power on VHF and UHF frequencies, Ham Radio operations during natural calamities like floods, landslides, tsunamis, earthquakes, cyclones and accidents.
The amateur radio scientists at NIAR created awareness and imparted knowledge to the students on various topics like sending information worldwide at low cost, making their own transmitters, receivers, antennas and employment opportunities in amateur radio.
ECE department head D. Ramesh, teachers Ramakrishna, Nagaraju, Shekhar Babu and Sandhyarani were present.
