Hyderabad: Timely action from the Uppal police patrol mobile saved the life of a photographer here on Sunday night. According to the police, a call came on Dial 100 around 9.30 pm alerting the Rachakonda Control Room that a person was attempting suicide in Ramanthapur by posting a live video on his Facebook account.
The Information Technology cell immediately traced the location of the person and passed on the details to the Uppal police, who alerted the mobile patrol. The patrol staff rushed to the spot at RTC Colony in Ramanthapur and found the person with minor cuts on his left wrist and immediately shifted him to a nearby private hospital.
Police said the youngster came from a well-to-do family, with his parents supporting his dream of becoming a photographer and had also provided him with cameras for realising his dream. However, he got addicted to alcohol and sold off the entire equipment, after which he reportedly slipped into depression and wanted to end his life. He attempted to do this by slashing his wrist in his room.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat appreciated the timely response from the patrol mobile. Earlier in the day, Bhagwat felicitated G Mahesh and P Rajashekar, constables from the Kandukur police station who had saved the life of a man on December 9. The 45-year-old man, who allegedly attempted to die by hanging himself in Kothaguda village in Kandukur, was rescued by Mahesh and Rajashekar after locals alerted the police on the Dial 100 facility.
“They reached the spot within four minutes of the call and brought the man down after loosening the noose from his neck. They then administered first aid and shifted the man, who had fallen unconscious, to hospital. Bhagwat, who appreciated the duo for their timely response, rewarded them on Monday.
