Protest against GHMC dump yard: Section 144 in two villages, BRS MLA arrested
While the villagers were raising slogans against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the police, the cops detained the MLA and took her away in a vehicle
Sangareddy: The police on Wednesday detained Narsapur BRS MLA V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy while she was heading to Pyaranagar to support villagers who were fighting against the GHMC’s move to establish a dump yard in 150 acres of land.
While the villagers were raising slogans against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the police, the cops detained the MLA and took her away in a vehicle.
Earlier, Sunitha Reddy alleged that the government was working against court orders by going ahead with the dump yard. She said that the court had ordered a status quo after the villagers filed a petition, but the GHMC had still decided to build the dump yard in violation of court orders.
The Narsapur MLA accused the police of acting undemocratically by restricting the movement of a legislator. The arrest created tension at the village for a while. Meanwhile, the police has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 in Pyaranagar and Nallavalli to keep the villagers inside the doors.
