Public hearing on PRLIS in six districts on August 10
Public hearings will be conducted on August 10 at 11 am in six districts to seek opinion from people in connection with the proposed second phase canal network under PRLIS

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB) has issued separate notifications to conduct public hearings on August 10 at 11 am in six districts to seek opinion from people in connection with the proposed second phase canal network under Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS).
The public hearing will be conducted at Brundavan Gardens on Kodangal Road in Vikarabad, MPP office in Hanwada village in Mahabubnagar and Anam Venkat Reddy Gardens in Veldanda in Nagarkurnool.
In Narayanpet, the public hearing will be organised at Anjana Gardens function hall. The hearing in Rangareddy and Nalgonda districts will be conducted at Sri Venkateswara function hall at Chowni Padakal crossroads in Talakondapally village and in a function hall on Devarakonda Road in Kondamallepally village in Nalgonda district, respectively.
In the environmental public hearing notification, the board has mentioned the details of the project name, address and consultant’s information along with the site and officer to be contacted and project capacity among others for the convenience of people.
PRLIS Chief Engineer V Ramesh said, “It’s a statutory thing as we already have terms of reference. Thus, separate notifications were issued for public hearing to get environment clearance,” he said. Following directions from the Ministry of Environment and Forests, the TSPCB is conducting the public hearing.
In the notification, the TSPCB environmental engineer said the Irrigation and Command Area Development (I and CAD)| department has proposed PRLIS for lifting of 90 TMC of flood water in 60 days during flood season from the foreshore of Srisailam reservoir and canal network will be developed from reservoirs to create irrigation to up land areas of Nagarkurnool, Rangareddy, Narayanpet, Mahabubnagar, Vikarabad and Nalgonda districts for an ayacut of 12.30 lakh acres.
Suggestions, views and objections of the public, if any, were also invited within 30 days from the date of publication of the notification from all persons including bonafide residents, environmental groups and others located at the project site.
The persons concerned can also submit written suggestions to TSPCB. Interested persons can take part in the proceedings of the public hearing on August 10.
