Khammam: Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar has distributed Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheques to beneficiary families in various municipal divisions here on Tuesday.
The minister handed over the cheques to 233 Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak, totally worth Rs 2.23 crore and 351 CMRF cheques worth Rs 1.45 crore as part of his two-day programme on Monday and Tuesday. He also presented sarees and fruits to beneficiaries at his own expense
Riding on a motorcycle, Ajay Kumar along with the party leaders and cadres visited the homes of the beneficiaries in 25 divisions. The minister took the decision to distribute the cheques at the doorsteps of beneficiaries in the wake of Covid-19, instead of organising a meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, he noted that the beneficiary families would greatly be indebted to the Telangana government and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for standing by them and releasing the cheques in a speedy manner.
A scheme like Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak was not implemented in any Congress or BJP ruled State in the country. Telangana government was a model for public welfare, Ajay Kumar added.
Mayor, P Neeraja, SUDA Chairman B Vijay Kumar, TRS senior leader Gundala Krishna, Khammam urban tahsildar Shailaja and others were present.
