Hyderabad: Plans are afoot to install the statue of former Prime Minister late PV Narasimha Rao in Atlanta of USA in November this year, marking his birth centenary celebrations.

In a statement, TRS NRI wing coordinator Mahesh Bigala said the statue will be installed as part of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s advise to install the statues of PV in five countries across the world. He pointed out that the statue of Mahatma Gandhi was also installed in Atlanta and accordingly, efforts were being made to install the statue of Narasimha Rao in the same State as well. “We will consult TRS Parliamentary Party leader and PV Centenary Celebrations Committee chairman K Keshava Rao as well as the family members for their advice on the statue installation,” he said.
Efforts have also begun to invite prominent persons in Atlanta including the local senator, the family members of PV Narasimha Rao, and also well-known persons from Indian including Telugu diaspora as well as the US, to attend the unveiling ceremony.
Indian American Cultural Association (IACA) founding member Dr Padi Sharma chaired the meeting attended by TANA president Anjaiah Choudary Lavu, IACA president Chand Akkineni, Indian Friends of Atlanta (IFA) chairman Sunil Savili, TRS Atlanta advisor Shivakumar Ramadugu, GATES chairman Chittari Pabba, secretary Janardhan Pannela, Sandeep Gundla, Ganesh Kosam, Srinivasulu Ramishetty, and Keerthi Goud Chakilam among others, attended the meeting.
