Dubai: The Telugu NRI community in Qatar recently felicitated Boxing Queen Nikhat Zareen for her stellar performances at the global level.
The daughter of a former Gulf NRI and a two-time world champion, Zareen is currently in Qatar with her family while recovering from successful knee surgery.
Nikhat Zareen’s journey is an inspiration to lakhs of people in India and beyond, said Indian Ambassador Dr K. Sirkar Reddy, who was the chief guest at the function organised by the Qatar Premier League and Telugu Sports Association.
Hailing Zareen’s determination, the Ambassador said she continues to be a role model for young athletes worldwide.
“I am overwhelmed by the joy and admiration received from the Telugu community in Qatar,” said Zareen. “I feel at home in Qatar,” she added.
Prominent Indian community leaders E.P. Abdul Rahman (ISC), AP Manikantan (ICC), Shahnavas Bava (ICBF), Taha Mohammed (IBPC), Sridhar Abbagoni (TSA) and Siraj Ansari (QPL), along with senior leaders K.S. Prasad and K. Kirshna Kumar, also spoke at the event.
