Rachakonda cops warn those sharing fake news of SI suicide
Earlier in the day, the fake news of the SI ending his life was doing rounds on various social media platforms, forcing the Rachakonda Police to clarify.
Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat on Tuesday said strict action would be taken against those spreading the fake news that Mahesh, the Sub-inspector of Addagudur police station, who was suspended in connection with the custodial death case of a woman, had died by suicide.
Earlier in the day, the fake news of the SI ending his life was doing rounds on various social media platforms, forcing the Rachakonda Police to clarify.
“It is a rumour and legal opinion is being taken on it. We are also booking a case against those who spread such rumours. We have found out that it originated from Nalgonda district,” Bhagwat said.
The woman Mariamma (42), died due to alleged police torture at the Addagudur police station, after which the Chief Minister ordered a probe into the incident. Sub-Inspector Mahesh and two constables of the police station were placed under suspension by Bhagwat as the probe into the allegations of custodial death due to police torture were on.
