A woman who was picked up by the police for questioning in connection with a case of theft of Rs 2 lakh allegedly died in Addagudur police station three days ago
Hyderabad: Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat placed a sub-inspector and two constables working at the Addagudur police station in Bhongir zone under suspension, on Tuesday.
A woman who was picked up by the police for questioning in connection with a case of theft of Rs 2 lakh allegedly died in the police station three days ago. There have been allegations against the police that three policemen had tortured the woman resulting in her death. However, the police maintained she had died of cardiac arrest.
The woman was picked up by the police from Khammam and brought to Addagudur, where she worked as a maid at a house. The Commissioner ordered an enquiry into the incident and placed under suspension sub-inspector Mahesh and constables Janaiyah and Rasheed.
