Hyderabad: In the last eight weeks, the Rachakonda She Teams caught 49 persons including six minors for harassing women, apart from stopping nine child marriages and rescuing the girls. As many as 57 cases, including 27 FIRs were booked during this period, officials said.
Those caught were counselled by professional counselors and psychiatrists in the presence of their family members, to change their behaviour.
Officials said complaints were received through different means including WhatsApp, Facebook, e-mail and through Dial-100. Apart from this, seven youngsters were caught by the She Team for harassing women in LB Nagar and a minor was caught for harassing students at a college in Meerpet.
The She Teams had foiled child marriages in Bhongir, Choutuppal, Ibrahimpatnam and LB Nagar. Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat appreciated the work of She Teams and urged women to approach She Teams through Rachakonda WhatsApp control number 9490617111 or Dial 100, when in distress.
