Hyderabad: Mentorship by Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat for candidates aiming at the Civil Services is reaping rich results, just as it has been for the last seven years. This time, 131 candidates mentored by the top cop of Rachakonda not only cleared the Civil Services Examination 2020 but also came out with flying colours.

A total of 761 candidates were recommended by the Union Public Service Commission for appointment to posts including Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service, Central Services, Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ through the Civil Services Exam 2020. Of the total candidates, 131 candidates were trained by Bhagwat. In fact, 19 candidates including rank 3, 8, 14, 18, and 20 under 100 were guided by the senior cop.

Going beyond the call of duty, Bhagwat has been mentoring civil services aspirants for the personality test (interview) every year for free. His efforts have helped close to 1,000 candidates in clearing the civil services examination in seven years. All this is being done over WhatsApp groups.

Not just from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, candidates from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Assam, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir and West Bengal too join his WhatsApp groups.

Based on a candidate’s details like name, State, graduation subjects and optional subjects, Bhagwat helps them prepare for the personality test with probable questions. This apart, he also shares news articles and current affairs. “Whenever I get time, I help candidates prepare for the personality test. I feel so happy when candidates clear the Civil Services Examination,” Bhagwat shared.

Last year, as the interviews were postponed because of the Covid-19 pandemic, Bhagwat along with his team of mentors – Dr Shailendra Deolankar, an expert in international relations, Nitish Pathode, IRS, Nilkanth Avhad, IAS, Anand Patil, IAS, Mukul Kulkarni, IRS, Dr Vivek Kulkarni, director, JPC, Sadhu Narasimha Reddy, IRS (AP), and Anudeep Durishetty, Collector, Bhadradri-Kothagudem among others mentored candidates online over Zoom and WhatsApp.
