In a first, the UPSC has released the provisional answer key for Civil Services Preliminary Examination Papers I and II shortly after the exam. Candidates can submit objections online with supporting documents until May 31, after which experts will finalise the answer key.

The UPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2026 is being conducted nationwide with over 8.19 lakh candidates appearing for 933 posts. Held in two shifts in offline OMR mode, the exam witnessed tight security arrangements and large-scale participation across multiple states.

The examination comprises two stages- preliminary (objective type) for selection of candidates for Main exam (descriptive) followed by interviews or personality test for selection candidates for various services. This year, the UPSC will hold the preliminary exam on May 25

As part of this exercise, the Commission is set to seek indents, including vacancies in different departments, from the State government for recruitment. The details will be processed in the month of April and notifications is set to be released in May

A total of 150 vacancies were reported by the Central government to the Commission for recruitment, a press release said.

The candidates who gave the examination can check their UPSC CSE Result 2022 on the official websites, upsc.gov.in and upsonline.nic.in

"No request for change in the date and time of the personality test (interview) intimated to the candidates will ordinarily be entertained," the Commission said.

The Union Public Service Commission has deferred the civil services (preliminary) examination, 2021, which was scheduled to be held on 27th June, 2021.
