Rains, hailstorms lash Telangana’s erstwhile Medak district

More rains forecast by the IMD has triggered fear of crop loss among the farming community

Sangareddy: Rains coupled with hailstorms lashed several parts of erstwhile Medak district causing crop losses on Friday night and Saturday.

Due to the heavy winds, electric poles were uprooted disrupting power supply across the district. Trees were also uprooted at various places, disrupting traffic flow. Since the Yasangi paddy, jowar and other crops were ready for harvest, the IMD prediction of more rains in the next couple of days has left the farmers worried.

Meanwhile, Transco officials were working round the clock to restore power supply.
