Rajanna-Sircilla: In a heart-rending incident, a woman and her daughter, a rape victim, were forced to stay away from the village after they tested positive for Covid-19. This incident occurred in Rashi thanda under the Bukya thanda gram panchayat limits of Veernapalli mandal.

The 38-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter tested positive for the virus three days ago. On coming to know about their illness, residents refused to allow them into the village and asked them to build a temporary hut on the thanda outskirts.


Since it was not possible to put up a hut immediately, the mother and daughter stayed in a shed constructed in the village graveyard. Learning about the incident, district officials shifted them to the Sardapur isolation centre on Friday.

The villagers and officials suspect that the girl, a Class X student, was infected by the virus at the Sakhi centre where she was lodged for a week after allegedly being raped by two persons recently. The mother, an agriculture labourer, may have contracted the virus from her daughter.
