Rallavagu backwaters submerge NTR Nagar and Ramnagar; Families evacuated

Backwaters from Rallavagu submerged the localities of NTR Nagar and Ramnagar in Mancherial on Saturday, prompting the evacuation of 27 families to a rehabilitation camp. Residents expressed frustration over frequent inundation during heavy rains and urged officials to take corrective measures.

Mancherial: People living in NTR Nagar and Ramnagar were evacuated to safer places after backwater of Rallavagu submerged the two localities on Saturday. Twenty-seven families residing in the two localities were shifted to a rehabilitation camp created in the town.

The residents regretted that the two colonies were often inundated whenever the town saw heavy rains. They requested officials to take steps to address the challenge. They stated that they were spending sleepless nights for quite a long time.

Collector Kumar Deepak who visited NTR Nagar and Ramnagar said that steps were being taken to prevent inundation. He said that patients in mother and children hospital were already shifted to safer places. He advised people to call the control room on 08736- 250501 to report any issues.
