Ramanagara : Amid the ongoing political discourse surrounding Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s potential elevation to the Chief Minister’s post, Ramanagara MLA Iqbal Hussain has strongly reiterated his support, stating that Shivakumar’s efforts and struggles must be rewarded.
Speaking to reporters in Ramanagara, Hussain said, “DK Shivakumar is our leader. I had earlier stated that he should become the Chief Minister, and I firmly stand by that statement even today. I fully support what I said then, and I continue to endorse it now.”
Hussain passionately questioned whether he did not have the right to demand recognition for a leader from his own district. “I was born in this district, and so was DK Shivakumar. If I seek dignity and status for him, is that wrong? Shouldn’t his relentless fight be valued?” he asked, hinting once again that Shivakumar deserves the top post in the state.
Meanwhile, commenting on the Congress’s protest scheduled for August 8 against alleged electoral malpractices, Hussain said the party’s high command has set the roadmap for the agitation. “The protest will be held under the leadership of our national leaders. We, from Karnataka, will provide full support. Around 20,000 people from our district alone are expected to participate.”
On being asked about EVM malfunction or election-related irregularities, Hussain clarified that the national leadership would provide clarity. “We do not yet know what exactly went wrong. But our national leaders will give us the details. Our duty is to stand in solidarity with them,” he added. His remarks have once again brought the DK Shivakumar CM debate to the forefront of Karnataka’s political scene.
