Hyderabad: BJP State president N Ramchander Rao has come down heavily on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for alleging that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had denied him an appointment to discuss the Tummidihatti project.
Participating in a Meet the Press programme here on Thursday, Rao questioned the Chief Minister’s claims and accused him of attempting to blame the BJP for political reasons.
“Interestingly, Revanth Reddy has managed to get appointments with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on nearly ten occasions. Yet, he alleges that the Maharashtra Chief Minister is denying him one. These accusations are aimed only at targeting the BJP,” Rao said.
The BJP leader described the Chief Minister’s approach as politically motivated. “There is more politics in his heart and fewer facts. If he is genuinely concerned about the interests of the people, he should have travelled there and held discussions directly,” Rao charged.
He also criticised Revanth Reddy’s demand that Union Minister G Kishan Reddy facilitate a meeting with the Maharashtra Chief Minister. “People elected Revanth Reddy as Chief Minister. Why should Kishan Reddy secure an appointment for him?” Rao asked. Demanding transparency, Rao urged the Chief Minister to make public the letter purportedly written to the Maharashtra Chief Minister seeking an appointment.
“If he shares the letter, the Telangana BJP will also request the Maharashtra Chief Minister to grant him an appointment,” he said.
On the controversy triggered by Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan’s remarks, Rao refrained from making detailed comments. “I have not fully heard what exactly Pawan Kalyan said. However, the BJP will strongly oppose anyone who insults Telangana or hurts the self-respect of its people,” he stated.
Rao also accused the Congress government of compromising Telangana’s interests in the sharing of Krishna river waters. “The Congress government has effectively handed over Telangana’s share of Krishna waters by agreeing to a project in Raichur, Karnataka. Revanth Reddy gifted Telangana’s share of Krishna waters to his Karnataka counterpart DK Shivakumar,” Rao alleged.
