Ramky Foundation launches sports initiatives, Telangana table tennis camp inaugurated
The Ramky Foundation inaugurated the Telangana men’s table tennis coaching camp at Somnath Ghosh UTT Academy. President M V Rami Reddy highlighted sports as a catalyst for development, while players and experts, including Arjuna awardee Akula Sreeja, shared insights on training and nutrition
Hyderabad: The Ramky Foundation is set to launch a series of sports development initiatives aimed at nurturing talent and contributing to India’s larger ambition of hosting the 2036 Olympic Games, according to President M V Rami Reddy.
Speaking after inaugurating the Telangana men’s table tennis coaching camp at the Somnath Ghosh UTT Academy in Kukatpally here on Tuesday, Mr Rami Reddy emphasized that sports would serve as a vital catalyst for peace and development.
He said that the Ramky Foundation would extend support to frame robust sports policies and launch centres of excellence for State Governments with the help of established sports administrators.
Mr Rami Reddy lauded chief coach Somnath Ghosh for his unwavering commitment in producing national and international-level players through systematic training and strategic planning.
The Telangana team members — SFR Snehit, Mohammed Ali, Swarnendu Chowdary, B Varun Shankar, and Trishul Mehra — were introduced to Mr Rami Reddy by Coach Somnath Ghosh. The team will represent Telangana at the prestigious 87th Senior National & Inter-State Table Tennis Championships, scheduled from March 14–21 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.
Akula Sreeja, Arjuna Awardee and one of India’s leading paddlers, in her inaugural address, highlighted the remarkable growth of table tennis in Telangana. She attributed her success to the structured coaching methodologies and intensive training imparted by Somnath Ghosh, while also acknowledging the collective support of players, coaches, and parents in building a strong sporting ecosystem.
Coach Somnath Ghosh expressed gratitude to the Telangana State Table Tennis Association for their continued trust and encouragement. He specifically thanked President K K Maheshwari and General Secretary Patel Nagender Reddy for their unwavering support.
Adding a scientific dimension to the camp, G Vennela, Sports Nutritionist from the National Institute of Nutrition, delivered an insightful session on maintaining physical fitness, mental resilience, and balanced nutrition to enhance performance.
