Jayashankar Bhupalpall/Mulugu: Minister for Women, Child and Tribal Welfare Satyavathi Rathod directed the officials to step up Covid tests to check the spread of pandemic. She said the State government was taking all steps to provide oxygen and Remdesivir injections to Covid patients at all the government health facilities.

The Minister held a review meeting with the people’s representatives over the Covid situation in Bhupalpally district on Wednesday. Addressing the officials, Rathod said that oxygen beds were available at isolation centres at Chityal and Mahadevpur CHCs in the district. “The officials must ramp up Covid tests at the hospitals. The staff must begin conducting the tests at 6 am and they may cross the target fixed earlier,” she said, adding that persons tested positive for the virus must be given proper treatment under the medical supervision over phone or WhatsApp.

She said that the medical officials must procure medicine and oxygen cylinders which could last for four days. Referring to SCCL hospital at Bhupalpally, she said that some beds at the isolation centre at the Singareni hospital must be allotted to the general public after allotting the beds to SCCL workers and their family members. District in-charge Collector S Krishna Aditya said that they had filled all the vacancies in the government hospitals including CHCs and PHCs following the directions from the State government.

“We are also asking the medical officers who went to other districts on deputation to come back to the district considering the Covid situation,” he added. The Collector said that a total of 374 teams had conducted door-to-door survey for five days and identified the patients suffering from fever and other symptoms. Later, she also visited Mulugu and held a meeting with the officials over the steps being taken to contain the pandemic.
