Rapido’s ‘Ownly’ enters Hyderabad with zero-commission food delivery model

Rapido’s standalone food delivery app Ownly has launched in Hyderabad, its second market after Bengaluru. The platform follows a zero-commission model for restaurants, while Rapido Captains will handle deliveries and customers will pay food prices and delivery fees.

Hyderabad: Rapido’s standalone food delivery app Ownly has been launched to Hyderabad on Saturday, making the city its second market after Bengaluru, where the platform was launched as a pilot in March this year.

In a press release, Ownly said its zero-commission model means restaurants are not charged a commission on orders. Customers pay the price of the food and a delivery fee, with no additional charges, according to the company.

Known for its biryani, Irani cafes and late-night food spots, Hyderabad has been chosen as the latest market for Ownly as the platform looks to expand its food delivery operations, the company said.

Rapido said its Captain community will play a key role in Ownly’s Hyderabad operations. Captains, who form the backbone of Rapido’s mobility network, will also handle food deliveries through the platform, creating an additional earning opportunity.

To mark the launch, Ownly hosted a biryani party for Rapido Captains in Hyderabad. Telugu actor Nani also attended the event and interacted with Captains from across the city.

“Our model is simple: restaurants keep what they earn, customers pay only for their food and delivery, and nobody pays for anything in between,” said Aravind Sanka, Co-Founder, Rapido and Ownly.

He said Hyderabad, with its strong food culture, was a natural next market for the platform after Bengaluru.

Ownly said its zero-commission model allows restaurants to retain the full value of every order, while customers can order food without inflated menu prices or hidden costs.

The app is available as a standalone platform on iOS and Android and can also be accessed through the Rapido app.
