Hyderabad: Fleet racing at the 6th YAI Secunderabad Club GMR Sports Youth Open Regatta 2026 reached nine completed races on Friday, with two titles settled and several others still to be decided on the final day at Hussain Sagar.

With one discard now applied to each boat’s series score, the penultimate day rewarded consistency — and at the front of the Optimist fleets, two sailors had built leads that could no longer be caught.

B Ravi Kumar of TSA and Shringhari Roy of the host Secunderabad Sailing Club sailed away with the Optimist Main boys’ and girls’ titles respectively, both securing first place with a race to spare. The two are the reigning Optimist national champions in their respective categories. Shringhari Roy’s record was flawless — nine wins from nine races across four days of racing.

The discard reshaped the Optimist Green boys’ fleet, where Yuvraaj Sirohi of TSC moved to the front. Having missed the opening race of the series, he has won six of the eight since — and with that first-race score now discarded, he takes the lead from Aditya of CESC.

The Optimist Green girls’ fleet produced the tightest racing of the regatta. Nethikopula Sindu of TSA edged ahead of D Aanya Reddy of the Secunderabad Sailing Club by a single point, with Roshni Kashyab of TSA close behind in third — three sailors separated by the narrowest of margins going into the final day.

The ILCA 4 boys’ title will go to the wire. Preet Siwal of the Navy’s INWTC (MDV) / NYSC and Rahul Sonar of TSC are separated by a single result going into Saturday’s final race, with either able to take the class.

In the ILCA 4 girls’ division the leading places are already settled. Tulsi Patle of NSS takes first, ahead of Krithika Vishwanathan of the host Secunderabad Sailing Club in second and Progya Das of EMESA in third. Tulsi Patle has won eight of the nine races sailed.

With one race scheduled for each class on Saturday, several titles remain genuinely open.
