Navi Mumbai: Smriti Mandhana fell heartbreakingly short of a maiden Women’s Premier League (WPL) century, but her commanding 96 set up Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) emphatic eight-wicket win over Delhi Capitals, as RCB made it four wins in as many matches to remain unbeaten at the top of the WPL 2026 points table at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy.

RCB chased down a target of 167 with ten balls to spare. The victory was slightly tempered by the fact that Mandhana was dismissed for 96 off 61 balls, denying the league its first century.

Earlier, Mandhana opted to bowl after winning the toss, which reaped immediate benefits for RCB. Lauren Bell struck in the first over, removing Lizelle Lee (4) and Laura Wolvaardt (0). Sayali Satghare, stepping in for Ellyse Perry, then bowled out Jemimah Rodrigues and Marizanne Kapp in consecutive deliveries, leaving DC reeling at 10/4 within two overs.

Shafali Verma counter-attacked with 62 off 41 balls (5 fours, 4 sixes), adding 59 runs with Niki Prasad (12) and later 34 runs with Sneh Rana (22). Lucy Hamilton chipped in with a bold 36 off 19 balls, but DC were bowled out for 166 on the final delivery. Bell finished with 3/26, Satghare 3/27, Prema Rawat 2/16, while Nadine de Klerk took 1/31.

RCB’s chase began with Grace Harris falling early to Kapp, but Mandhana and Georgia Voll (54 not out off 42 balls) stitched a record 142-run stand for the second wicket. Voll played the supporting role before accelerating, while Mandhana struck 13 fours and three sixes. Richa Ghosh added 7 runs to seal the win.

With four wins from four matches, RCB remain unbeaten and in command of the tournament, while Delhi Capitals continue to struggle at the bottom of the table.

Brief scores:
Delhi Capitals 166/10 in 20 overs (Shafali Verma 62, Lucy Hamilton 36; Lauren Bell 3/26, Sayali Satghare 3/27) lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru 169/2 in 18.2 overs (Smriti Mandhana 96, Georgia Voll 54 not out; Marizanne Kapp 1/21, Nandini Sharma 1/34) by eight wickets.
