Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A real estate broker was arrested on charges of duping a person by collecting Rs 17 lakh by promising to sell a piece of land in Kagaznagar on Sunday.
Kagaznagar Rural Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar said Ramtenki Prakash from Bodhanpalli was apprehended for his role in duping Krishna using fake ownership documents by promising to sell five acres of land situated on the outskirts of Malini village for Rs 17 lakh.
However, Prakash could not show the asset physically when Krishna insisted on seeing the land after paying the money. He then threatened Krishna for repeatedly asking about the asset. Krishna realised that he was cheated and approached the police, who in turn registered a case and took up the investigation.
The police cautioned the public not to trust fraudulent brokers and to cross-check land records before purchasing an asset.
